Sophia Harms van Estrik, sculptor in Amsterdam
Sophia Harms van Estrik: ”In my sculptures, I seek to express the most essential: the emotion and soul within. People and animals inspire me, but a good story, remarkable shape or extraordinary stone catches my attention as well. The result can be figurative or abstract, I follow my intuition to find the most appropriate form of expression in bronze, stone or marble.”
In the Netherlands her classic schooling and skills were, amongst others, taught by Jos van Oosterhout at the Gooise Academy for Expressive Arts in Laren and Leo van den Bos in Amsterdam. Abroad Sophia followed tuition at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris/France and The Florence Academy of Art in Florence/Italy. At the Europäische Kunstakademie in Trier/Germany, she learned the skills for sculpting figures of people in true life size.
Commissioned work such as (family) portraits, busts, relationship gifts, birth gifts, anniversary gifts, awards, company logos or presents for special occasions are gladly executed with the same dedication and enthusiasm as her personal work.
She also published a 132-page book with a collection of her works. This book provides a handy overview of the varying and surprising oeuvre of Sophia. The book can be ordered on request for € 45,- and neatly delivered via PostNL with Track & Trace for € 4.95 extra
