Bronze sculpture ”Woman with Torch”

Vrouw met Fakkel

Bronze sculpture ”Woman with Torch” depicts a woman holding a torch in the air. The torch or flame is the symbol of the Olympic Games. Its origins lie in ancient Greek mythology, where it commemorates the theft of fire from the Greek god Zeus by Prometheus. Still today, it is the tradition to keep this fire burning throughout the duration of the Olympics.

Open Ateliers 2023 Nieuwmarkt Amsterdam

Sophia Harms, sculptor and owner of ARTelier SOPHIA will take part in these open door days 10 and 11 June 2023; daily from 12.00 – 18.00. We will explain the bronze casting process during these days.

Artelier Sophia was recently invited to take part in a most exclusive art exhibition, which was organized in the inner court of the Hermitage Amsterdam.
